Work during the COVID-19 Period – Class 7

Here you will find some suggested work for pupils in Class 7

 

17/11/20 – We are suggesting that each day, pupils try to do some Main Lesson work, followed by some Literacy and Numeracy.The numeracy tasks here will last you 2-3 weeks.

Main Lesson

Additionally you can

  1. Find and listen to a Renaissance Madrigal (there are many on Youtube!).
  2. Look up “Renaissance Dance steps, part 1” and try them out!

Maths

In Maths for the next three weeks, the focus is on Measurement.

Literacy

This term we are focusing on story writing. As always, reading is one of the best things that we can do, so read, read, read!

SMSC

This term, we are looking at healthy and unhealthy relationships. Included is a cut and paste activity on Good friends. There are pictures of different scenarios for you to discuss before deciding whether the person is being friendly or unfriendly

Drama

This term I was planning on teaching the class Shakespeare’s sonnet 29, in which there is a lot of feeling and drama. It would be great if you could read this and start to get a bit of a feel for what it is about. It takes a while to understand it, but worth persevering with.

Art

This term we are copying the Renaissance artists. If you have paint, you could try to paint the Mona Lisa or The Girl with a Pearl Earring, copying from these images.

In class we are exploring tempera (paint made with egg yolk and ink/watercolour/food colouring), which gives the colour a sheen.  You can explore this using the instructions on the sheet.

Rhythm and Music

Choose your favourite songs and dance away to them!

You could listen to Mona Lisa by Nat King Cole and then make up your own version!

Baking

Our focus this term, is primarily bread, followed by Christmas goods such as mince pies and mini Christmas cakes. Part of this lesson was going to be to research a recipe to work from, so you could do this, thus incorporating IT skills. You could research and find a recipe that you like and identify whether you have the ingredients at home.
