Interim Headteacher

Sheiling School in Thornbury, near Bristol, is an independent Special School catering for pupils with ASD, SEMH and other associated co-morbid conditions. We are seeking to appoint an interim Headteacher from January 2024 until August 2024.

The school has a stable senior leadership team and is currently Good in terms of Ofsted. This role is to focus on operational oversight and developing the school further along their improvement journey. Areas of focus are School Improvement in the Quality of Education, Personal Development and line management of the SLT team.

You must be an experienced Deputy Headteacher or Headteacher, with a background working with ASD and SEMH children, ideally in an SEN/AP setting, to apply.

The post of Headteacher has become available as a result of a strategic review of the schools needs. The current post holder will be taking up a new post within the school with responsibility for training and developing the schools’ overseas teachers alongside the current teaching staff and maintaining the oversight for the Quality of Education within the Sheiling school community. Furthermore, he will be developing a nationally recognised training programme which will be rolled out from September 2024 as part of the Sheiling schools’ commitment to supporting all pupils with additional needs.

In the first instance this appointment will be for an interim Headteacher to join the school from January 2024 until August 2024. A full recruitment process will take place within the spring term to appoint a substantive Headteacher.

Salary £60,000- £65,000 per annum
