Christmas Market 2014
This year’s Christmas Market was a truly wonderful event that was very well supported by the friends and families at the Sheiling, as well as the local community and members of the public from far and wide.
We were very honoured that Bob Woodward OBE and his wife Judy came to officially open the event. They had just returned from Windsor Castle the previous day where Bob received an OBE from her Majesty the Queen, for his outstanding and tireless charity work as the founder of ‘Clic Sargent’. Bob’s fundraising skills already began within the first few minutes of the market’s opening as he posed with individuals to be photographed with his medal – for cash of course!
We will shortly publish to total amount of money raised from the event-it has taken quite a time especially with the Christmas holiday break in between. Lots of counting could well be a very good sign!
So again a huge thank you to pupils, staff, parents, friends and to everyone that contributed and supported us…… from the very generous donations, the hard work in the setting up of the hall and decorating so beautifully (and especially for the clearing up afterwards!), for the wonderful cafe, soups, cakes, waffles and mulled wine, for the beautiful crafted and artistic work by the pupils and stall holders. For the lovely gingerbread houses, the story time, the Nature Trail, Thornbury Choral society for their beautiful carols –it could be that Mr and Mrs Woodward may be signed up with them (see photo) and great thanks to all of you that came to make this a beautiful occasion as well as supporting the fundraising project with the pupils to establish their recycling centre.
