Candlemas Day
On Candlemas Day students from across the school joined together for songs and reflected on our contribution to our surroundings and the promise of the arrival of spring.
The students made unfired clay candles which they placed around the boundaries of the school hoping to bring warmth to the earth and speed spring on its way.
Once all students had laid their candles we gathered for songs and refreshments around the fire. We remembered the verse:
“If Candlemas day is dark with rain, winter’s power is on the wane.
If Candlemas day is bright with sun, winter’s only just begun.”
