CURRENT VACANCIES: Please note, we have very limited places for the next 6 months. We are committed to meeting the needs of individuals as well as our partner authorities and welcome applications. If you have a specific need or requirement please contact us directly.

The Sheiling School is registered to admit pupils aged 6 to 19 as weekly boarders, full boarders and day pupils. Currently most admissions are for day placements with fewer weekly/termly placements for 38 weeks per year.
We also offer short-term breaks for the pupils who are currently on our roll for an additional 4 weeks per year. Short-term breaks can also be offered during term time for day pupils or weekly boarders after school or during weekends.

We welcome applications for children and young people from any social, religious and ethnic background.

Admissions – Making Your Decision

Before you begin the admissions process, we know that you will want to be confident that the Sheiling School is the right school for your child. The best way to find this out is by coming to visit us.

You are welcome to arrange a visit, either with or without your child, and you’ll be able to tour the site and see our facilities. You can also meet our staff, and talk to us about any concerns that you have or ask us questions.

You and your child can also find out more about the Sheiling School by reading our Children’s Guide which will be available shortly as it is currently being updated. This easy-to-read handbook is packed with helpful information about the school, daily life there and our facilities.

The main steps in the admission procedure are as follows:

  • We ask you for relevant reports to consider your child’s needs in detail
  • If we can be of help we will arrange for you to visit the school
  • If we feel that we can meet your child’s needs we will enter their information onto our admissions shortlist. This list is regularly reviewed and we will send you updates to keep you informed of our current situation
  • *Please note that when vacancies arise, placements are allocated following careful consideration of suitability within the current dynamics of the individual class,
rather than being designated on a ‘first come first served basis’

  • Once a place is offered and funding is arranged, we will work on transition
