Senior pupils from 16-19 are encouraged to show increased maturity, to develop greater independence and to take more responsibility for their own personal timetable and all aspects of daily life.

  • Individual person centred planning fosters greater independence, initiative and social responsibility.

  • Senior pupils develop their skills in woodwork, pottery, basketwork, baking and estate work.

  • Emphasis is placed on age appropriate activities, life and social skills, and further inclusion into the local Thornbury community.

  • We encourage continued development of literacy and numeracy.

  • The school endeavours to prepare the senior pupils for adult life and transition.

Pupils from 16-19 are encouraged to develop greater independence and initiative, and to demonstrate more responsibility for their own personal timetable.

They are encouraged to make the transition to adult status and to develop greater responsibility for themselves and an increasing awareness of the world around them.  More challenging practical tasks can lead to greater maturity and to a sense of being a responsible part of the adult world . Particular emphasis is laid on widening their horizons as much as possible.

In many cases seniors move to a Further Education placement funded by the Learning and Skills Council.  There are many colleges which provide such placements, amongst which are four Camphill Further Education colleges in England and Wales.
