The Families and Friends of Camphill

This is a charitable organisation which draws its members from all who have an interest in the work of Camphill centres throughout England and Wales.

Most of us are either parents or family members of children, young people or adults in the various Camphill centres.

  • We aim to give support to the relatives and friends of children and residents within Camphill.
  • We aim to support Camphill communities.
  • To join Families and Friends please contact the School for an application form.

We exist in order to meet on a regular basis to share experiences and advice and to learn more of the excellent work which is done in Camphill and to plan and carry out activities which can support that work.  There are regular regional meetings.

One of our current activities is a Person Centred Planning project funded by Lloyds TSB and the lottery fund.

We hope to expand our activities to include PR projects.

We greatly welcome new members.  Please see the accompanying letter below.  A Families and Friends of Camphill website is currently under development and a link will be provided as soon as possible.

Dear Family and Friend,

My name is Lorri Weaving and my brother, Carl, lives at Camphill Houses in Stourbridge where he has enjoyed many fulfilling years. I am also secretary of the ‘Families and Friends of Camphill’ association.

‘Families and Friends of Camphill’ supports residents of Camphill throughout England and Wales. Its work is welcomed throughout Camphill. We aim to give the relatives of those who live in Camphill communities the chance to share information and experiences, primarily through our newsletters and regional meetings. We are also currently running a Person Centred Planning project, funded by the Big Lottery Fund. This project puts individuals within our communities firmly at the centre of planning for the development of their lives and invites families to be full partners in the process.

You may be aware of the changes in Government thinking regarding the provision of services for people with Learning Disabilities and the effects on Intentional Communities such as Camphill.  In these times of change many Communities are under a great deal of pressure and need continued support from Families and Friends. As such, we are making strenuous efforts to inform families of our association's existence and activities.
The association is run on a purely voluntary basis and is self funded through events, donations and subscription.

Thank you so much for your attention. I hope that you can join us.  To do so please ask the School’s Families and Friends’ contact person for an application form.
Please help us broaden our efforts in bringing more people together to support and promote the work of Camphill.

Lorri Weaving
