Sheiling School Thornbury, like all such schools, is inspected for both its care and its educational provision.

The recent Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) rated us as “excellent” and the recent Ofsted inspections rated us as “outstanding” in the areas of care and education.

The CSCI reported on the following categories of care - personal, emotional, social, academic and spiritual.

• The Sheiling School takes pride in offering a wide range of life opportunities and learning experiences in which the pupils’ individual progress is often rapid and exceptional. 
  

• Questionnaires returned by LEAs and parents have been unanimously positive in support of the School.
  
• The Sheiling School’s educational self assessment is that we are a school with a tranquil and purposeful atmosphere, where all staff provide thoughtful and highly conscientious support for pupils and in which the pupils make excellent progress, especially in terms of their confidence, security and ability to manage their own behaviour.
